In this film, Vicky Kaushal is playing the role of the great Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, while Rashmika Mandana is playing the role of Yesubai, wife of Sambhaji Maharaj.
Dinesh Vijan praised Rashmika Mandana a lot. He said that he has worked with Rashmika Mandana for the first time in the film Chhaava and she is a woman with very positive thinking. He said, “I have never met a person as positive as Rashmika to date. She is very different from others. Sometimes it seemed by looking at her that she was completely upset and broken, but when I used to go to talk to her, at that time she was so positive as no one could be. This quality of hers is commendable.” Dinesh Vijan, while talking about Laxman Utekar, director of the film Chhaava, said, “I have worked with Laxman Utekar in four films and I am proud of him. The contribution he has given to the film Chhaava, would hardly have been given in any other film. When Laxman Utekar was narrating the story of the film to me, I never thought that it could be a story, I have felt his story in reality.” It is worth mentioning that Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandana and Akshay Khanna have important roles in the film Chhaava, made under the banner of Maddock Films.
