Delhi turns into the epicentre of espionage with the stellar team of Special Ops 2

Dilli ki hawa mein iss baar sirf politics nahi, intelligence bhi ghoom rahi hai! The powerhouse team behind Special Ops 2, created by Neeraj Pandey, descended upon the capital for a high-octane day filled with intrigue, insight, and interactions that matched the series’ gripping intensity.

Delhi—the backdrop for several pivotal moments in the series — played host to an electrifying gathering as the core team of Special Ops 2 came together: Kay Kay Menon, Neeraj Pandey, Shivam Nair, Karan Tacker, Tahir Raj Bhasin, and Vinay Pathak. Each member brought their distinct voice and vision to the forefront, offering deeper insight into the evolution of their characters, the intricacies of the storyline, and the expanding universe of Special Ops. With palpable energy and cinematic fervour, their presence set the tone for what promises to be the franchise’s most intense, layered, and ambitious chapter yet.

Creator Neeraj Pandey, on being asked about how much of season 2 is drawn from real intelligence, said, “Cybersecurity and cyber threats aren’t just future concerns, they’re a present-day reality. The way we use our digital identities and conduct transactions makes us increasingly vulnerable. A lot of what you see this season is inspired by real interactions and insights from people in the intelligence world. That authenticity has always been at the heart of our storytelling.”

Working on Special Ops 2, Kay Kay Menon shared his admiration for the writing, saying, “All the actor needs to do is to follow and understand the subtext behind those lines and the way he is writing it. So, that makes my job easy. To put it in words, whatever you said, all that came about because of the writing.”

While it was all pleasure for Karan Tacker being in Delhi, he elaborated on his experience working for this season, shedding light on the evolution of his character, where he said, “Evolution certainly comes through writing and all credit to Neeraj Sir. This season has evolved in several ways through action sequences, through drama, and the universe got massive!”

Upon stepping into the Special Ops universe, Tahir Raj Bhasin said, “Mere liye sabse dilchasp baat thi ki jab yeh kirdaar ke baare mein mujhe bataya gaya… normally ek antagonist ki jo kahani hai, wo kyu operate karta hai, yeh zyada dikhaya nahi jaata hai. But yaha par ek back story hai… uske kuch siddhant hain. Aur wo un siddhanton ke hisaab se logon ko aur paristhitiyon ko ghumata hai.”

Vinay Pathak offered a grounded, almost philosophical take on returning to his role as Abbas Sheikh: “Once you’ve done the work, for example, you’ve eaten, the plate is broken. If you’re told to eat from the same plate in the evening, your hard work has increased.” In his signature witty style responded to a question about how his character Abbas Sheikh has changed in season 2. Reflecting on his character, Abbas Sheikh and the real-life force that inspired him, said: Delhi Police are the smartest cops in India. “Sabko anubhav hoga humare Delhi ke police karmiyon se, including me! I’ve been stopped too. They’re sharp, street-smart, and always alert.”
