The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the winners for the 48th Annual International Emmy Awards on Monday via a Livestream event. Netflix series Delhi Crime was awarded the Best Drama Series, the first-ever for an Indian program. Other Netflix wins included the Portuguese series Ninguém tá Olhando (Nobody’s Looking) for comedy and Spanish telenovela La Reina del Sur in the category of Non-English U.S. Primetime Program.
Richie Mehta’s true-crime series Delhi Crime is a fictionalised version based on the Nirbhaya case. The series sensitively captures the complexities of the scrutiny, the emotional toll on the investigating team, and their determination to bring the perpetrators to justice in a fraught environment. Over six years of research went into the making of the series, which was shot on location in New Delhi. The series boasts of a stellar cast, including Shefali Shah, Rajesh Tailang, Rasika Dugal and Adil Hussain.

Netflix’s Sacred Games (S1) and Lust Stories were nominated in the Best Drama and Best TV Movie Or Miniseries categories, respectively, for the 47th Annual International Emmy Awards, while Radhika Apte was nominated for Best Actress for Lust Stories. This year, Delhi Crime brings home the award.
