Rajkummar Rao – Bollywood’s new antihero!
From what was being considered a huge risk by superstar Shah Rukh Khan to play antihero characters just at the onset of his career in movies like Baazigar and Darr to Gen-X actor, Aamir Khan in Earth-1947 and recently Ranveer Singh’s brilliant portrayal as Alauddin Khilji in his biggest blockbuster Padmaavat, many mean protagonists in Hindi films have been incredibly charismatic and have left a lasting impression on the minds of the film buffs.
Breaking the standard norm and stereotype, these films made it big banking on the villainous tendency of their hero, or shall we say anti-hero! The latest and the most talked-about character being Omar Saeed Sheikh, a dreaded terrorist, played by the powerhouse performer Rajkummar Rao in his highly-anticipated release, Omerta, helmed by Hansal Mehta.
Rajkummar Rao’s filmography and his impressive career graph certainly testify his vision and creative urge as an actor. The versatile actor chose to take the road less traveled opting for an unconventional debut with Love, Sex Aur Dhokha and later proved his mettle portraying interesting characters with great aplomb in varied genres thereafter and winning several awards.
Rajkummar’s intense, brooding look as notorious terrorist Omar Sheikh in the captivating thriller has received a fabulous response from the audience, especially his fans and has left them wanting more.
Last year, Omerta has already premiered to excellent reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival last year followed by the Busan International Film Festival and a very successful screening of the Closing film at the Mumbai Film Festival 2017.
Boasting of an interesting line up of films this year besides Omerta, Rajkummar is set to spring a huge surprise on the audience and his fans in films including Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, Fanne Khan, Stree, Mental Hai Kya.
